Short for distribution or distributor, but not run like a traditional book distributor. A distro is usually a small hobby mail order, online store, or in person tabling project at zine events or music shows.

A distro will purchase a quantity of zines either outright wholesale rate or on consignment directly from the zine creator. The distro will resell them.

Distros are great places to find a bunch of different zines by different creators. If a distro picks up your zine, it's a great way to get your zine out there to a larger audience.

Zine Distros are generally set up as labors of love to sell the zines that distro owners like and want to share. Usually they will have websites or even mail order catalogs with pictures and descriptions of the zines they stock in their distro.

Zine orders are shipped out every two weeks. Please email us if you need faster service.

To keep costs low and accessible, each order is shipped via media mail, which takes 7-10 business days, sometimes longer. You will receive an automatic email with a tracking number once your order is shipped.

Small orders are sent with a stamp first-class mail, no tracking.

If your order is lost in the mail we will refund you and you are welcome to reorder.

BRZD does not have wholesale pricing. We give Black zine makers 100% of the cover price for their zines, so wholesale pricing is not possible.

If you see something you like that you want to table, distribute, display, reference or teach from please contact individual writers directly.

To keep our work sustainable and give everyone a fair chance at small print runs, we limit purchases to 2 copies of a title per order.

Brown Recluse Zine Distro was created in 2013 to support and center zines written predominantly by people of color; this project was born out of passion for zines and frustration at the lack of representation and meaningful zine material for people of color.

Many of the zines are in the distro on consignment, and cannot be donated.

Please contact zine makers directly and ask them for donations.

Some of our zines were printed from free PDFs off the internet. We do not own these zines and cannot provide free copies at this time and encourage you to print out your own copies of free PDFs.

Whenever you donate to Brown Recluse Zine Distro you are supporting writers and artists of color. BRZD is able to add new zines to the distro and keep current zines in stock.

The zine community mirrors dominant white culture in a lot of ways, centralizing white voices and creating platforms for that forget about BIPOC contributions. Visibility and representation are so important.

BRZD has been able to go on tour, table at zine fests, upgrade equipment and make donations to Black community members as a form of wealth redistribution. All of this has been done with the support of donations and purchases!
